Angkor Wat on UFJ Card's Newsletter
Attached with this month's credit card bill is a newsletter to which I at first didn't pay any attention besides merely checking the bill itself. But, the picture on the right caught my sight. Yeah, that's Angkor Wat!!! The caption, according to my poor Japanese ability, reads "marvelous relief shown at Angkor Wat's corridor (Angkor Wat, Cambodia)." My personal experience tells me that Angkor Wat is so well-known that more people, specifically the Japanese, have known/heard about it rather than the country where it is located.
More ironically, when we talk about Cambodia with some foreigners, they seem to automatically blurt out that they know Cambodia because they have read/heard about Khmer Rough, Pol Pot, Killing Field, so on and so forth. I just wonder if such words are gonna be attached with "Cambodia" for good??? To me, I'd prefer "yes" because I couldn't imagine the 2nd Khmer Rough to exist.
May Cambodia be blessed with peace!!!
